Van Mahotsav Celebrated with Great Enthusiasm at DAV Public School, Sawang, CCL, Bokaro
"A tree is not just a part of nature; it is the very foundation of life."
With the objective of nurturing environmental awareness and instilling the values of nature conservation among young minds, DAV Public School, Sawang, CCL, Bokaro celebrated Van Mahotsav with great enthusiasm and zeal in the Junior Wing. The entire campus echoed with the inspiring message of "Save Trees, Plant Trees, Protect Trees", as students, teachers, and the school leadership came together to reaffirm their commitment towards preserving the environment.
The celebration began with a warm welcome, followed by a series of vibrant cultural performances by the tiny tots of the Junior Wing. Through beautifully choreographed dances, melodious songs, thoughtful speeches, and creative acts, the young students highlighted the indispensable role of trees in sustaining life on Earth. Dressed in colourful costumes representing trees, birds, animals, and elements of nature, the children captivated the audience with their innocent yet powerful performances.
One of the most touching presentations was based on the historic Chipko Movement, where young students beautifully recreated the spirit of environmental conservation by hugging trees and pledging to protect them. Their performance reminded everyone of the timeless message that trees are not merely resources but living companions that deserve love, care, and protection. The act symbolized the deep bond between humans and nature and encouraged every individual to become a guardian of the environment.
The celebration was further enriched by the gracious presence of the respected Principal, Mr. A. K. Mishra, who joined the children in the festivities and appreciated their wholehearted efforts. Addressing the gathering, he delivered an inspiring and thought-provoking message that left a lasting impact on everyone present.
In his address, Mr. A.K Mishra emphasized that trees are not just green plants standing silently around us; they are the very essence of life. He said that every breath we take is a priceless gift from trees, and therefore, protecting them is our foremost responsibility. He reminded the students that nature has always been humanity's greatest teacher and provider. From the air we breathe and the water we drink to the food we eat and the shelter we enjoy, everything is a blessing bestowed upon us by nature.
He further stated that humanity must never consider itself superior to nature. Instead, we should learn to live in harmony with it. Whenever humans exploit forests recklessly, pollute rivers, or destroy ecosystems for short-term gains, nature responds through environmental imbalances such as rising temperatures, droughts, floods, and other natural calamities. He explained that these are reminders that disturbing the balance of nature ultimately harms humanity itself.
The Principal encouraged every child to develop a lifelong habit of planting and nurturing trees. He urged them not only to plant saplings during Van Mahotsav but also to take responsibility for their growth. He beautifully explained that planting a tree is like giving life to future generations because a single tree provides oxygen, offers shade, conserves water, prevents soil erosion, supports wildlife, and improves the quality of the environment for countless living beings.
Addressing the young learners, he said that real education is reflected in our actions. A truly educated person is one who respects nature, conserves resources, and inspires others to do the same. He motivated the students to become "Green Ambassadors" by spreading awareness among their families, friends, and neighbours about the importance of protecting trees and preserving biodiversity.
He also reminded everyone that the relationship between human beings and trees is eternal. Trees silently serve humanity throughout their lives without expecting anything in return. Therefore, it is our moral duty to protect them with the same love and dedication. He encouraged students to remember that every sapling planted today will become a priceless gift for tomorrow.
Concluding his inspiring address, Mr. Mishra appealed to everyone to transform environmental awareness into everyday practice. He urged all present to reduce wastage of natural resources, avoid unnecessary cutting of trees, plant more saplings, and actively participate in creating a cleaner, greener, and healthier planet. His motivating words filled the audience with renewed enthusiasm and strengthened their resolve to contribute towards environmental conservation.
The celebration witnessed active participation from all the teachers and students of the Junior Wing, whose dedication and enthusiasm made the programme truly memorable. The event concluded with a collective pledge to protect nature, conserve trees, and work together for a sustainable future.
The Van Mahotsav celebration at DAV Public School, Sawang, CCL, Bokaro was not merely a cultural programme but a meaningful movement that inspired every participant to become a responsible citizen and a true protector of Mother Nature. The event beautifully conveyed the message that when we protect trees, we protect life itself, ensuring a healthier, greener, and happier world for generations to come.
